About Del Rio Photo Co.
Hi! I'm Brittany, the one behind the camera acting a fool.
As a 16-year military spouse and mother of two, I have moved to 5 different countries or states, and have raised my family like nomads. Life is fluid and seasons change, and I continue to capture those seasons as they are happening so that we have pictures to look back on and remember who we were at each stage of our lives.
I’ve spent a small fortune on a LOT of photo sessions along the years for my own family memories, and I have learned along the way which images I will cherish forever, and which I will never look at again. This first hand experience has led me to understand the difference between a family photo, and a family keepsake.
My entire life has pulled me to this moment…
I understand the value of capturing the unique dynamics and emotions that make your family so special. My goal is to freeze those tender moments, creating cherished memories that you can look back on for years to come.
With each photo session, I strive to go beyond simply capturing posed portraits. I believe that the essence of your family lies in the genuine connections, laughter, and love that you share. Through a mix of candid shots and guided poses, I'll capture the true spirit and personality of your family, creating a collection of photographs that showcase your unique story.
To all the moms who are ready to finally be in the photos instead of the one taking them: it’s your time to shine. You’ve come to the right place.
Whether it's a playful afternoon at the park, a cozy day at home, or a special family event, I document the fleeting moments that make up your lives right now. I want to freeze those giggles, hugs, and silly expressions, so you can relive the joy and warmth every time you flip through your photo album. We get silly (and weird) but that’s when the magic happens. You’re going to cry when you see how beautiful you are from my perspective, I promise. Go ahead, browse around and see what all the hype is about.

“Hi. I’m Brittany! I’m not sure if you’ve seen my work or not but let me introduce you to what I’ll have you do. I’m going to show you where to stand or walk and generally where to be, but then I’m going to have you do something with your partner or kids. I’ll tell you guys what to do, and you guys just have fun with it. I don’t want you to look at me, like ever. I don’t do look at me and smile photos. Instead, I want you to play with each other, and enjoy the next hour of fun!”
The first time we meet…
Each session is different, but each have certain qualities that remain the same. Here I break down what to expect by session type.
Families & Couples on Location
Family sessions on location start with a few posed portraits to ensure we get that perfect holiday card photo. Then we quickly transition to the magical and fun experience all of my families have come to expect from me. You know the ones I mean: the images with movement, the emotional connections I showcase. Every family is unique and dynamic, and we explore your personalities both individually and as a family to capture your family as you truly are. The beauty is in the details. Proofing galleries typically average around 75 images for you to select your favorites. However, I can’t promise you won’t fall in love every one of them.
Couples’ images follow the same format. We rely heavily on prompting and movement, but there are also some standard couples poses we incorporate as well for a wide variety of images. My couples walk away feeling invigorated and happier than before the session started. It’s like a third date (you know, the fun one) all over again. Proofing galleries typically average around 50 images for you to select your favorites.
Maternity
Because the goal of a maternity session is different, maternity sessions contain more posed images than a family session. With maternity, expect some posing but we do still incorporate movement and emotions through prompts in the photos we capture. I will guide you through optimal body positioning to deliver the best angles for maternity portraits. Proofing galleries typically average around 50 images for you to select your favorites.
In-Home Lifestyle
In-home sessions are typically longer and more relaxed than outdoor images. Not only are we showcasing your family’s personality, but also your space. We take time to both play and relax together for a story-telling session that is all you. From baking cookies to pillow fights, blanket forts to couch snuggles, we do it all. In home sessions are also wonderful options for maternity and headshots for a more personal peek into who you are.
Headshots & Solo
Solo sessions can feel intimidating at first for those who aren’t used to the spotlight, however they are also a lot of fun and you’ll quickly realize you actually enjoy it. I take time to get to know you before our session so that I’m able to prompt you into genuine smiles, laughter, and connection. We swap stories, tell ridiculous jokes, talk business and embarrassing moments. It doesn’t feel like you’re standing in front of a camera, but a new friend. I deliver both serious and genuine smiles in your images. Due to the more intimate nature of this session, proofing galleries average around 30 images for you to select from.
What to Expect
The Golden Age of Photography
In this ever-increasing digital era, 54,400 photos are taken every second across the globe. That’s 4.7 billion (with a b!) photos taken every day. Everyone walks around with a camera in their pocket. And many photographers fear that this is the end of their career. However, I see it as the beginning.
Social Media Is Devaluing Imagery
Do you remember when we used to post the most mundane Facebook updates and upload photos of ridiculously boring content? I go through my memories and delete status updates from 15 years ago like, “I don’t want to get out of bed today.” Yup. Why did I feel like people wanted to know that? Dumb. What about what I like to call ‘the food porn’ craze? Everyone posted photos of their Applebee’s dinner or Starbucks order. And we all just scrolled right past it because it didn’t speak to us. Did you know that the attention span of an internet user is 8 seconds and continues to decrease with increasing usage of social media? Civilization has taken quite a turn into virtual-based friendships and with that comes the need to post content for more ‘likes.’ But what does that do for value of professional photography?
Visual Online Storytelling
Professional images provide an opportunity for you to tell your story in a visually compelling manner. Using storytelling techniques, your viewers get to experience an emotional connection to you. They get to see what makes you or your family unique and interesting. With the decrease in face-to-face interactions, real genuine smiles are often lost in the data. But when you hire a professional photographer, you gain permanent and tangible images of authentic connections, something that AI and selfies can never capture. It’s in these moments, these real and authentic snapshots of time, that our true selves shine through.
The Power of Prints
I’m going to be honest with you, I want you to print my images. I want you to print your images. I want you to print other photographer’s images. I want you to blow them up huge and hang them over your fireplace. I want your detail shots hanging over your bed. I want to walk into your house and immediately know that this is a home, filled with loving memories and laughter. I value these things over wall art and aesthetic plants. Yes, printing images can be an expense, but it’s an important one to make. It shows that you value yourselves and you value your connections to each other.
It’s time for real talk. If you own one pair of Louis Vuitton shoes, you’re probably never going to wear them, they’re too special. But if you owned a thousand, they’d probably be your daily wearing shoes. The same concept holds true to imagery. If you take 1,000 photos a day, how often would you print an image? Would images become less special to you? That’s why I am here. Professional images are not Walmart shoes, they’re Louis Vuitton heels, and I want you to build a special display case and admire them every day and in every room of your home. Not just your home either, but also grandma’s home.
My neighbor and I were talking a few weeks ago and she told me that every year she asks her daughter for a family photo for Christmas. And every year her daughter sends a digital. But that’s not what she wants. She wants a print for her wall. And I started to think about it. My own parent’s home has a hallway crammed full of family photos. Photos of my stepmom’s family, of my family, of my dad’s family. Everyone. Great grandparents, cousins, baby pictures, it’s all there. Their whole story in photos. Some are large, some are tiny, some are just wallet prints stuffed in the corner of another frame. But everyone who visits looks at those images and sees what they value—each other. Do you have one of these walls in your home? I’m willing to bet you don’t. It’s my personal goal to change that, one family at a time. And this year for Christmas, I framed and sent our family photos to my husband’s mother, his father, his grandmother (my kid’s great grandma) and my own parents. And my next order will be prints for my new home. Did you send a digital this year, or a print?
