Frequently Asked Questions

  • Session packages are listed on each session page. Packages include low resolution web-sized images which are ideal for sharing on social media and can be printed up to 5x7 without loss of image quality. Low resolution does not mean they are low quality images, but sized smaller and ideally compressed which is the perfect format for websites/social media and printing in small format. If attempting to print 8x10 or larger, image quality may be compromised due to compression. Purchase of images specifically for printing is available and I would love to discuss options with you. If you are thinking of printing images for wall art before the session, please discuss with me so that I may ensure to capture images ideal for the format you’re wishing to display.

    Basic color correction of images to my style is included and is subject to photographer’s artistic ability. If you find issue in the colors, please reach out to me to discuss, as minor changes may be accommodated. For more extensive editing, additional fees are required per edited image. My style is to showcase a family as you truly are, I do not slim bodies or retouch images extensively as a part of the normal editing process, as I feel this compromises the experience. If you have an issue with the way you look, please discuss with me beforehand so that I can work to limit these concerns in-camera during your session. My goal is to showcase you as you are, and I will work to find the most flattering angles for all body types and features.

  • Most clients want images for online sharing and small print (8x10 and smaller). High resolution images have more pixels than low resolution images. When you try to upload a high-resolution image for website/social media sharing, these sites will attempt to compress the image to fit their upload resolution. The websites compression of the large scale image often makes an image appear lower quality/pixelated. I pre-compress images for clients ahead of time specifically to avoid the compression from these sharing platforms to ensure your images appear the highest quality on the web.

    High resolution images are meant for large format printing. Low resolution prints well to 5x7 and sometimes 8x10. I offer prints in the store in large format for purchase directly through my professional lab. If you wish to print images larger than this on your own, I can sell digital images at an additional cost for this purpose. Please discuss with me so that we may choose which images you want to print and I can deliver the ideal size for printing.

  • Yes. At the time of booking, I charge a $50 booking fee ($300 for birth services). This fee is credited towards the balance of your session. This fee is a non-refundable fee to hold your session date and prevents me from booking another family during the agreed upon time, it also covers my time and travel to the location. This fee is 100% non-refundable, however, reschedules are permitted if needed and within specified time limits. Please see FAQ section regarding no-shows and reschedules for more info.

    Your remaining balance is due prior to the session. No images are delivered until balance is paid in full.

  • For outdoor sessions, ideal times are sunrise and sunset. I do not offer sessions outside of ideal times for outdoor sessions unless we are shooting somewhere with deep shade. These light conditions are ideal for keeping faces evenly lit and reduce aging/wrinkles and eyeshadows.

    If your family is not able to meet around sunset, an indoor session would be ideal, as the light through the windows is optimal during normal daytime hours.

  • Turnaround time can take up to two weeks depending on current workload. Around holidays this time can be extended. At the time of your session I will discuss with you the expected timeframe for final delivery.

  • If you or your family members are late to a session, please contact me immediately. I will wait at the session location for 15 minutes. If I am unable to make contact and 15 minutes has passed from the time of your session, it will be considered a no-show and no refunds are given. A new booking will be required.

    Please note that photography is dependent on light conditions. The less time we have with available light, the less images a gallery will have to choose from. Your session time starts at and ends at the contracted and agreed upon time regardless of when you arrive to the location. Please ensure you arrive on time and ready for images or arrive early if needed for outfit changes at the location prior to starting a session.

  • I charge a non-refundable booking fee at the time of booking to hold your session time and cover the cost of travel to the session location. I will not book another session during our agreed upon time. This fee covers the actual session time and my travel to the location. If you no-show a session, I can book another session for you with a new booking fee, but I will not refund the original booking fee. Reschedules can be permitted 48 hours in advance with a minimal $25 rescheduling fee. For reschedules within 48 hours of session time, a last-minute rescheduling fee of $50 is incurred due to loss of income during that session time. If you or anyone in your family becomes sick, please contact me immediately to discuss rescheduling, as same-day reschedules or no-shows due to illness incur last-minute reschedule fees.

  • No! Your proofing gallery will have watermarks to prevent theft of images, however you will be able to see the images to choose which images you wish to download. Once you have made your image selection, I will remove watermarks and send you the images for downloading. The only watermarked images I have are unpurchased images. After purchase, all branding is removed.

  • No. All images are edited to my style and delivered in .jpeg/.jpg format. I do not sell images that are unedited, as they are not a reflection of my ability. RAW images are the intellectual property of the photographer and the photographer owns the exclusive right to those images. RAW format is not able to be uploaded to the web or shared, and must be run through software to change to a format that is able to be shared. RAW images are often times underexposed and ‘flat’, which is why most photographers shoot in that format. It allows for maximum pixel manipulation using professional editing software.

  • No. Images sold are for personal use only and clients are granted a personal use license. Commercial licensing is available for an additional fee. Please feel free to contact me to discuss using these images for your business or advertising.

  • Yes! Your images can be printed anywhere. However, I do not recommend printing images at non-professional labs and cannot guarantee the quality of images printed at locations such as Walmart, Walgreens, Costco, and 24-hour photo locations. For quality images, a professional printing lab is recommended. You are able to purchase printed images from the professional labs through my store, as these labs are color calibrated and are guaranteed in quality.

  • If you print at a non-recommended lab, you may come across images that are too-dark, green or orange tinted, or blurry. If you are struggling to upload to one of these sites due to too-small images, you may have downloaded them improperly. Each image has a download option, and screen printing or snipping tool is the lowest quality. I do not recommend screen printing/snipping tool, but choosing the option to ‘download’ will download your images to your computer in the optimal sizing for your needs.

    If you print through my store, I guarantee the quality of the images and have calibrated to the lab’s color space. I work directly with my lab and quality check every image I have printed for my clients.

  • Images are stored online for 30 days from delivery date. You may download your selected images an unlimited number of times during this timeframe—share the link with whomever you wish, they can download too! I will send you reminder emails after two weeks and again at the 48 hour mark to remind you to download your images. After the gallery expires, your images are no longer guaranteed to be available. You may contact me to request the gallery be reinstated for another 30 days for an additional gallery re-upload fee, however I do not guarantee the photos will be stored longer than 30 days. After 6 months, hard drives are cleaned and galleries are no longer available. Please download your images multiple times and back-up your gallery.

  • I do not currently have a studio, however, many studio images can be accommodated in the home. If you are looking for a studio-look, send me a message and let’s discuss the options.

  • I do not accommodate large weddings at this time. I can accommodate elopements without guests as a couples session. If I arrive to a location and there are wedding guests, I will not accommodate nor refund the booking fee for the time agreed upon. Please do not ‘surprise’ me with a wedding booked as a couples session.

  • I offer lifestyle family sessions for newborns that include the family in your home. I do not wrap newborns or offer baby-only images. Wrapping newborns and posing them involves an aspect of safety and requires a photographer trained specifically for newborn handling for the safety of the infant. Many of the poses accomplished during a traditional newborn session through newborn photographers are composite images due to the safety of the pose. This is not a service I offer. I can recommend a newborn photographer if you are looking for images of only your newborn in a newborn studio.

  • I can offer photography services for certain parties and events. Please contact me to discuss further.

  • I do! However, I do not provide the cake nor do I decorate for a cake smash session, but I can help guide you in decorations. Since I do not have a studio, I offer outdoor cake smashes or we can discuss doing one in your home if you prefer indoor. Please contact me to discuss further options.
